World Humanitarian Day is August 19, 2016. It is a day created by the United Nations to recognize the international aid workers who have lost their lives and those who risk their lives to help others. It is a celebration of the humanitarian work that is done around the world.

You can get involved by recognizing the work international aid workers do by supporting the organizations that assist them and employ them. You can also share a story of a humanitarian in your social media feed to highlight the good work done by these type of organizations. Tag @DarrenKavinoky and use #HumanitarianDay

World Humanitarian Day is August 19, 2016. It is a day created by the United Nations to recognize the international aid workers who have lost their lives helping others and those who risk their lives to bring food and medical assistance to those in need. It is a celebration of the humanitarian work that is done around the world.

For example: Last month the Los Angeles Times reported on the good work done by Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria where QUOTE “more than 1,200 people living in a camp for internally displaced people in northeastern Nigeria have died from starvation and sickness during the last year in what is becoming ‘a catastrophic humanitarian emergency.’” Doctors Without Borders fearlessly goes into high risk areas like this to help those in need. http://www.latimes.com/world/africa/la-fg-nigeria-refugee-camp-20160623-snap-story.html

Take the time to share a humanitarian story on your social media feed today and highlight the important work of aid workers around the world.
