I owe you an apology! If you are a Tweepinoky, a Darren’s Diva, or anyone else that was hoping for more content from me, I’ve been a bad, bad boy!! I sincerely apologize, and my New Year’s Commitment is to publish my unique (sometimes crazy, possibly offensive) content at least once a week! One of the greatest things in my life is the accountability partner that you’ve become for me! I’ve been in a workout, wanting to quit, and then finishing in spite of myself ONLY because I planned to post a pic, and I knew I’d have to post honest commentary… You have definitely helped me be a better me, and I’m grateful to you.

So… now that we have a clean slate between us (I hope!)…

One of my personal tools (and a chapter in my my upcoming book) is that one of the ways we can best use our brain to improve our lives is by asking ourselves better questions. I don’t know about you, but I have the ability to go from zero to feeling crappy in two seconds if I let my brain run without care. I’ll ask myself a disempowering question (like “Why did you screw that thing up?” or “Why didn’t you say X when they asked you that question?”).

The brain is funny. Ask it a question, and it will give you answer. Ask ourselves disempowering questions (or engage in disempowering self-talk), the brain will oblige and serve up answers to those questions. So if I ask myself “Why am I terrible/flawed/whatever?” my brain will start rattling off reasons.

BUT, when I ask myself a better question, my brain will always oblige  If I ask myself “How can I succeed here?” or “What would a really smart person do here?” my brain will oblige! It’s like magic!

So one of my challenges is to remember to ask myself better questions.   If you try it on for size, you’ll see what I mean.

One of my coaches (and everyone should have them—you can’t see the back of your own head!) asked them of me, and I found this so powerful, I wanted to pass it on to everyone. Try it! I bet the below will serve up great answers. These questions (and the answers that followed them) made my day wonderful! Please try. I hope it makes your day too! The questions for your Year in Review are:

  • Three amazing people in my life are:
  • Three great things about my home, and where I live, are:

As we sprint through the finish line of 2015, each of you who are seeing this feature prominently on my gratitude list.  I’m proud to know every one of you, and to call you friends and colleagues.  Be safe, and stay out of handcuffs! (“Unless you’re into that sort of thing,” as they say on the radio!)

And if you want to know MY answers to these questions, please “like” or share this post, and I’ll be sure to share my personal answers with YOU!
