Ever wonder how I went from a kid who struggled with his weight to a seven time Ironman triathlete? It was a lot of exercise, sweat, hard work, dedication and commitment. Check out my workout pics and playlist along with 3 Tips To Stay Motivated that keep me sweating it out day after day.

In this photo gallery of my workout selfies, you can see that I never quit. Getting in shape and staying fit takes showing up to workout on days when it’s raining, cold, hot, or busy. There is no tomorrow or later. There is only what you put in today.

Life is full of excuses. Your health is yours to either improve or let dwindle. Every day is an exercise opportunity. What will you make of today’s exercise option?

Darren’s 3 Tips to Stay Motivated

1. Remember the buddy system from when you were at summer camp? Stick together. Find someone with a common exercise goal that will hold you accountable. You don’t have to hire a trainer to get you on your feet. You can phone a friend and create a time and place meet-without-fail pact. Rain or shine. Hot or cold. Holiday or workday. Get it done. You’re worth it.

2. Stop listening to that negative voice in your head. Replace the voice that holds you back and is afraid to succeed, with the voice that pushes you forward. Let your doubting self stay home and watch TV, while your confident self puts on one tennis shoe after the other and hits the pavement. If you have trouble digging up the self-confidence, then listen to my motivational voice in your head. You can do it! I believe in you! (And tweet me a selfie with #SweatySelfies – the sweatier the better!)

3. Keep it simple. As you can see by the workout pics I post, we aren’t doing anything elaborate. Push ups, planking and doing Burpees on anything we find burns calories and builds muscle. don’t let the price of a gym membership hold you back or prevent you from sweating. No need to get fancy with exercise. Just head to your local park, public playground, school or track. Can’t find a track? Run steps inside a high rise building. The free possibilities are endless…
